Balance Inner Stillness With OuterAction for True Fulfillment

The consciousness you bring to your actions matters far more than what you accomplish. True fulfillment comes from integrating inner stillness with outer activity—not from identifying with doing, achievement, or the ego's endless wanting. The universe itself expresses two complementary movements: outward creation and inward return to source. When you stop being identified with form and let awareness flow through your actions, you become a conscious creator rather than an unconscious doer driven by lack.

What You Do Is Secondary; How You Do It Is Primary

Eckhart Tolle begins with a radical reorientation: the most important thing about your life is not what you accomplish, but the state of consciousness with which you act. Some people accomplish what appear to be great things; others do work that looks insignificant on the surface. Yet the quality of presence, the inner spaciousness, the quality of attention you bring to any action determines its real value and impact. This cuts against the grain of modern culture, which obsesses over outcomes, metrics, and external achievement. For Tolle, the "how"—meaning the consciousness that flows into what you do—is primary. The "what" is merely secondary.

This distinction matters because it reframes what fulfillment actually is. A person can manifest enormous wealth or status and remain deeply empty if their actions spring from unconscious identification with form and continuous wanting. Conversely, someone doing simple, ordinary work while remaining present and free from compulsive need can experience genuine fulfillment. The quality of your being shapes the quality of your life far more than the quantity of what you produce.

Does Manifesting and Creating Conflict With Inner Peace?

A tension arises in spiritual seeking: if the goal is inner peace, acceptance, and surrender to the present moment, how do you reconcile that with the desire to create, manifest, and achieve? Tolle acknowledges that many modern teachings focus on manifestation, intention, and the power of conscious creation—books like The Secret and channeled Abraham teachings enjoy wide popularity. The question becomes urgent: is there a conflict between pursuing your goals and living in stillness?

Tolle's answer is nuanced. The conflict is real, but not inherent. It depends entirely on whether your creating and manifesting spring from ego-identification or from presence. The distinction is crucial. If you are identified with doing and form, always chasing the next thing, always feeling incomplete without the next achievement, then yes, you are at war with peace. But that is not a problem with creating itself; it is a problem with the unconscious state from which your creating arises.

The Universe Itself Is Always Creating

Tolle invites observation rather than theory. Look at the universe: it is relentlessly creative. On this planet alone, life continuously manifests countless forms—millions of species in the sea and on land, an endless dance of becoming and transformation. In outer space, presumably, the universe creates with even greater profligacy. Life forms emerge, interact, consume one another, die, transform into other forms. It is a ceaseless manifestation.

Moreover, the universe seems to manifest not just peace but also conflict, challenge, and struggle. This too is intentional, built into the fabric of creation. Imagine a movie with no conflict whatsoever—no problems, no challenging characters, everyone perfectly conscious and at peace. Would anyone watch it? Would it even have a script? Life, as the universe creates it, needs tension, difficulty, and the play of opposing forces to be interesting, to unfold, to mean anything at all.

The universe also drives toward increasing complexity and differentiation. Human civilization becomes ever more intricate; scientific knowledge breaks phenomena into smaller and smaller pieces; professional specialization narrows so that each person masters a tiny corner of a vast domain. Yet Tolle notes that complexity cannot expand infinitely. Eventually, like a tree with too many branches, a winter storm collapses much of the structure. Complexity has limits.

Two Movements Within Every Human Being

What Tolle reveals is that every human being embodies two complementary movements, both rooted in the universe itself. The first is the outward movement into form, creation, manifestation, experience, and doing. This is the impulse to engage with the world, build things, pursue goals, experience the play of life in all its color and complexity. Many people are identified with this movement; it drives their ambition, their productivity, their sense of purpose.

The second movement is inward—a pull toward stillness, peace, being, essence, and return to source. This is the spiritual impulse, the recognition that beneath all form lies something formless, timeless, and untouched by the endless flux of created things. This is where spirituality originates: in the universe's desire not just to experience creation, but to know itself directly, in its own essence, to experience peace and the underlying oneness that precedes all differentiation.

The tension Tolle describes is real. You wake up in the morning feeling drawn to stillness and presence, then you see something in a shop window and think, "I want that." You feel pulled between the world of form and the return to source. This is not a personal failing; it is the human condition, a microcosm of the universe's own dual nature.

Can These Two Movements Be Reconciled?

Tolle suggests that the central challenge of human life—perhaps even the challenge of the universe itself on this planet—is to reconcile these two movements rather than to choose one and abandon the other. It is possible, but it requires a fundamental shift in consciousness. Traditionally, human activity has been almost entirely unconscious. People have manifested in this world, created forms and civilizations, driven by identification with doing and form—what Tolle calls the ego. The ego is fundamentally identified with doing, with the created world, with form itself. This identification has structured recorded history and beyond.

What happens when consciousness is identified with form and doing is that the one consciousness underlying everything—timeless, formless, and prior to all creation—becomes trapped in unconsciousness. It becomes identified with its creations and forgets itself. The result is the world we see: endless striving, endless dissatisfaction, endless problems generated by unconscious action.

The possibility Tolle points to is that you can act, create, and manifest, but from a different place—not from ego-identification but from presence. When you are not identified with doing, when you are not lost in the sense of self that thinks "I am this body and I need to survive and accumulate and achieve," then action flows from a different source entirely. It flows from the consciousness itself, through you, rather than from your personal will.

The Source Is Like Light Shining Through You

Tolle uses the metaphor of light to clarify this. The source of consciousness is like light. It shines through you; it does not need to be predicted or controlled. When you stop blocking the light—stop resisting the present moment, stop identifying with the narrow sense of personal self, stop grasping and pushing—then the light shines through your actions naturally. You do not have to figure out what to do; you do not have to control the outcome. Your action becomes responsive, intelligent, creative, and effortless because it is sourced in something infinitely intelligent, not in your limited ego-mind.

This is what distinguishes conscious action from unconscious doing. Unconscious doing is driven by lack, by the sense of incompleteness. You act because you believe something is missing, because you are trying to become someone you are not yet, to get what you do not have. This generates the endless cycle of wanting that Tolle describes in A New Earth. Conscious action, by contrast, flows from completeness. You are whole now, present now, not trying to achieve a better self in the future. From that wholeness, creative action arises naturally, without the distortion of ego-need.

The Identity Problem: Who Are You Acting From?

This brings Tolle to a critical point about identity. Most people, asked who they are, will name their body, their roles, their history, their accomplishments—"I am a doctor, a mother, a person who grew up poor and worked hard to become successful." They identify with their form and their story. But that is not who you are. That is what you do and what happened to you. Who you are is the awareness that observes all of this, the presence in which all experience arises.

When you identify with your form and your story, you are in a state of unconsciousness. Your actions flow from a constricted, defended, incomplete self trying to fill a void. When you recognize yourself as awareness itself, as the presence in which form arises, something shifts. You are no longer trying to be anybody in particular. The ego, which feels this as a threat—which feels "inferior" and uneasy without a solid identity to defend—resists this deeply. But when the resistance softens, when you stop grasping for a fixed self, then action becomes possible that is not born from the ego's drive but from what Tolle calls "creative insights" and "creative ideas" that arise from consciousness itself, not from your personal mind.

Where to Go From Here

The practical implication of Tolle's teaching is this: before you focus on manifesting, creating, or achieving more, examine the state from which you are acting. Are you driven by lack, by the sense that you are not enough and need to become more? Are you identified with a fixed self that must protect itself and accumulate security? If so, your actions, no matter how successful externally, will be driven by unconsciousness and will generate ongoing suffering.

The path forward involves first establishing yourself in presence, in awareness of the present moment. This is not a strategy to get something; it is a return to what you already are. From that foundation, action becomes possible that is truly creative, that serves not just your narrow self-interest but the larger intelligence flowing through life. You do not have to figure out the details; you do not have to control outcomes. You hold the intention, stay present, and let the intelligence of the universe work through you. That is the reconciliation of stillness and action, of being and doing, and it is the real secret to fulfillment.

[0:00] What you do really is

[0:04] secondary.

[0:05] [Music]

[0:08] Some may do great things. Others may do

[0:11] things that look on the surface not so

[0:14] significant.

[0:16] [Music]

[0:18] But how you do it is primary. When the

[0:22] how means

[0:24] the consciousness that flows into what

[0:27] you do.

[1:21] On ETV, we can have

[1:26] some stillness. On normal TV, that would

[1:28] be dreadful.

[1:56] Often

[2:08] people ask questions about

[2:18] manifesting

[2:20] or the power of

[2:23] not the power of now, the power of

[2:25] intention.

[2:28] And how does that

[2:30] relate to the power of now

[2:32] [Music]

[2:37] and about wanting?

[2:41] One person asked a question

[2:46] about

[2:48] what's the difference between wanting

[2:52] continuous wanting that I write about in

[2:55] a new earth

[2:57] always wanting or needing the next thing

[3:01] and what's the difference between

[3:03] wanting and intention

[3:07] intending to create something

[3:11] and What is the importance of

[3:12] manifesting things in your life or

[3:15] creating?

[3:17] Or is that counterproductive? Somebody

[3:20] asks.

[3:21] Maybe we should focus on something else,

[3:26] not on manifesting or creating.

[3:30] H.

[3:35] Now there are many exciting books these

[3:37] days

[3:39] about creating and manifesting

[3:43] the secret

[3:47] teachings of

[3:50] Abraham

[3:52] channelneled teachings and so on.

[3:57] And so

[4:00] often people ask, well, how does it

[4:02] relate to stillness

[4:06] and inner peace

[4:09] and acceptance of what is and surrender

[4:12] to the present moment and living in

[4:15] alignment with now?

[4:18] Is there a conflict? Is one wrong or

[4:23] misleading

[4:24] or leading you into illusion?

[4:30] And so they ask and then expect me to

[4:33] answer.

[4:47] So this is an important question

[4:50] for

[4:52] almost everybody

[4:56] unless you've reached the age of 95

[4:59] and then you can be almost sure that

[5:01] you're not really into manifesting

[5:04] anymore when it's you've done that, been

[5:08] there, done that.

[5:12] And some people don't have to reach 95

[5:14] before they have a feeling that

[5:18] my life is not does not need to be

[5:20] focused anymore on creating or

[5:23] manifesting.

[5:26] So it may have something to do with the

[5:29] stage not necessarily chronological age.

[5:35] Uh there's some has something to do with

[5:38] where you are at in your own life.

[5:42] But really your own life is a microcosm

[5:44] of the microcosm.

[5:47] So if you look at the universe,

[5:52] the first thing you see that it likes to

[5:54] create

[5:56] and it likes to manifest.

[6:01] On this planet alone,

[6:03] the universe is continuously creating

[6:06] and manifesting countless life forms,

[6:10] millions, millions of life forms.

[6:18] And then outer space, we can only

[6:21] assume.

[6:23] We don't know

[6:26] what exactly is there, but there's a

[6:29] vastness of life out there. That's for

[6:31] sure. And probably many more life forms

[6:35] than we have on this planet, which is

[6:38] more than we can count.

[6:41] And the life forms both in the sea and

[6:44] on land including humans,

[6:49] they seem to enjoy a dance of coming

[6:53] into being and

[6:55] destruction.

[6:58] They eat each other up.

[7:01] If you're born in the sea, you go

[7:04] around.

[7:06] [Laughter]

[7:09] It's a transformational process. And

[7:11] this entity becomes you. And then

[7:13] suddenly something comes up from behind

[7:15] and grabs you

[7:17] and you become that entity.

[7:20] Continuous dance.

[7:27] And also if you observe life on this

[7:29] planet,

[7:33] the universe also seems to manifest a

[7:36] conflict.

[7:39] Uh,

[7:43] and

[7:46] sometimes people say, "Oh, I don't want

[7:48] conflict."

[7:50] But if there were no conflict at all in

[7:52] your life, challenges and so on.

[7:57] Um, what would that be like? Imagine

[8:00] going to a movie

[8:02] that has no conflict in it.

[8:06] Would that be interesting?

[8:09] Maybe. I doubt it.

[8:15] A movie in which nothing goes wrong.

[8:22] Everybody's perfectly fine all the time.

[8:25] No challenging people. Everybody is so

[8:27] conscious. It's nothing happens. It's

[8:31] Well,

[8:32] could try that. Maybe that's an idea for

[8:36] a script writer.

[8:39] Or maybe there the script wouldn't be

[8:41] very long.

[8:44] How many people would come and watch

[8:46] that movie?

[8:48] Don't know.

[8:55] So you have that

[8:58] you just by just looking not having a

[9:00] theory about life but just looking you

[9:03] see that the universe loves to manifest

[9:07] and also it seems to be the case that

[9:09] life forms

[9:11] over periods of time become more

[9:13] differentiated many more come and even

[9:17] the human societies become more complex

[9:22] We've had ancient civilizations that

[9:24] were quite complex, but probably our

[9:27] present civilization, if we can call it

[9:29] that, is

[9:31] the most complex, which of course

[9:33] includes

[9:35] problemridden also that goes with

[9:38] complexity. It's full of and every

[9:41] individual who is part of this

[9:43] civilization

[9:44] has a life that is full of problems

[9:47] because you live in a very complex

[9:50] civilization. So it produces complexity.

[9:56] I mean computers just getting into I I

[10:00] can't get into that anymore. Maybe I've

[10:02] gone beyond that age. It's so complex. I

[10:05] can't I cannot learn all these stuff

[10:09] that you need to know on computers. Boys

[10:12] can do it. Six year olds.

[10:16] To me it's too complex.

[10:20] the and the differentiation of the the

[10:22] analytical mind science cutting every

[10:27] phenomenon up into little pieces and

[10:31] then you have little pieces and then

[10:33] each piece is cut up into further pieces

[10:36] and the microscopes get bigger and

[10:38] bigger. Now let's examine that and

[10:41] everybody's specialization gets narrower

[10:44] and narrower because you you have to be

[10:46] because there are thousands of people

[10:49] writing PhDs about your subject. So you

[10:51] have to have only a little corner and

[10:53] then you have to take that out and then

[10:55] examine that and then spend three years

[10:58] examining that complexity.

[11:09] Of course complexity cannot go on

[11:11] forever. on some level complexity. At

[11:14] some point if a tree grows too many

[11:16] branches

[11:18] eventually suddenly a winter storm comes

[11:21] and most of it collapses.

[11:28] So the universe likes to

[11:33] create to manifest to experience the

[11:35] play of form.

[11:38] That's one movement.

[11:41] And you can see it in yourself on some

[11:43] level. You enjoy that

[11:48] or you enjoyed it or you still do enjoy

[11:51] it.

[11:55] And then there's something else in

[11:57] humans. You can only really see that

[12:00] perhaps in yourself, an inner

[12:03] phenomenon.

[12:05] The universe also wants something else.

[12:08] It wants not only to experience

[12:12] that manifested life.

[12:14] It also wants to experience

[12:18] peace

[12:21] and

[12:23] something that is not touched by the

[12:27] continuously fluctuating forms.

[12:30] It wants to know itself

[12:34] deeply, directly

[12:37] in its essence. And that really is the

[12:39] root of spirituality

[12:42] is that the universe not only wants the

[12:45] outward movement,

[12:47] it also wants the inward, the return

[12:51] movement to the one.

[12:54] And so every human being also embodies

[12:58] these two movements.

[13:01] And that seems

[13:03] you are torn sometimes between

[13:07] the outward movement into form

[13:11] and the inward return movement to the

[13:14] source where it all started. But the

[13:17] source that was never really lost that

[13:18] is still there because it's timeless.

[13:20] The source of all life is timeless and

[13:22] it's in you

[13:25] and you feel drawn back to that and that

[13:28] is the

[13:30] pull towards spirituality,

[13:33] peace, stillness,

[13:36] being rather than doing.

[13:40] And then you wake up the next day and

[13:43] you look in a shop window and say, "Oh,

[13:45] that looks nice.

[13:48] I need to get that. I'd like to do this,

[13:51] get that,

[13:53] achieve that. And then you get okay. But

[13:57] on the other hand, I want peace also.

[14:00] The the two

[14:02] exemplified by perhaps

[14:06] Echarati exemplifies the return movement

[14:10] mostly.

[14:12] And you have Tony Robbins goes, "It's

[14:16] that

[14:22] And not one or the other is right or

[14:24] wrong.

[14:28] It's only perhaps if you

[14:32] totally

[14:34] lose yourself in one or the other. Maybe

[14:37] that's not quite it. Unless you live in

[14:42] a cave somewhere, then you can lose

[14:45] yourself in being.

[14:50] Can is it possible and perhaps this is

[14:54] the challenge of the universe here

[14:59] on this planet and perhaps on other

[15:01] planets

[15:03] is the challenge to reconcile

[15:08] the two movements

[15:11] rather than have them separate either

[15:14] one or the other.

[15:20] Is it possible to reconcile

[15:23] the inner

[15:26] movement towards stillness and being and

[15:31] the outer

[15:34] that wants action

[15:36] and doing

[15:39] and I would say that it is and that is

[15:42] our

[15:43] challenge

[15:45] at this time.

[15:49] Traditionally you let's talk about human

[15:52] doing and action first.

[15:55] Traditionally

[15:57] it's been very unconscious what humans

[16:00] have manifested

[16:03] in this world to a large extent has been

[16:06] unconscious.

[16:08] They have been identified with doing

[16:12] and identified with

[16:15] form because form is about the outer the

[16:19] creation of form and your own form and

[16:22] creating more forms. And so that has

[16:26] been going on ever since anybody can

[16:29] remember recorded history and beyond.

[16:32] this identification with form and

[16:35] identification with doing

[16:42] and we call that ego.

[16:45] Now what happens then is that the the

[16:48] one

[16:51] consciousness that underlies

[16:55] everything timeless formless. The one

[16:58] consciousness

[17:00] moves into form assumes forms

[17:06] and enjoys the play of form.

[17:10] But it's not enough it seems for the one

[17:12] consciousness to enjoy the play of

[17:14] forms. It needs to completely believe in

[17:16] it to really make it real. It's not

[17:21] real, but to make it seem real, you need

[17:23] to lose yourself in that dream of form,

[17:27] the play of form. And this has happened

[17:29] to humans.

[17:31] So identified with the form

[17:35] that you believe yourself to be a

[17:38] separate entity.

[17:41] You have you have a life of your own.

[17:44] There is no such thing. But you can't. A

[17:47] life of my own doesn't exist. There's

[17:49] only life and you are an aspect of that

[17:52] one life. But humans believe that I have

[17:56] a life of my own.

[18:00] And then others have their life.

[18:04] And of course that's

[18:07] if I have a life then of course

[18:11] one day I could lose I'm going to lose

[18:13] my life.

[18:15] Oh God

[18:17] I'm losing my life. I lose my life. Who

[18:21] are you and who is life?

[18:25] You must be separate from life if you

[18:27] can lose your life. So who is saying I

[18:30] is not life?

[18:33] Who is that eye? What is that eye that

[18:35] says my life

[18:38] consciousness

[18:42] un the un manifested timeless one life.

[18:49] So the every human then believes that

[18:52] they have the a life of their own

[18:56] and become that means they identified

[18:59] with a form of life that particular form

[19:02] of life

[19:05] this particular physical body.

[19:10] This particular psychological

[19:13] life form, the thoughts, accumulation of

[19:17] thoughts,

[19:19] your past, your history,

[19:23] your viewpoints and the emotions that go

[19:26] with these thoughts, feelings.

[19:29] It's all becomes all part of that form

[19:32] identity.

[19:35] That's me

[19:37] encapsulated form identity

[19:42] and so consciousness

[19:44] is trapped or

[19:47] believes to be trapped in that.

[19:50] So we could say that

[19:53] in that state the universe or the

[19:56] consciousness has entered a dreamlike

[19:59] state. It wants to do that. It must

[20:01] enjoy that dream up to a point.

[20:05] It consciousness has entered that

[20:07] dreamlike state

[20:10] where it is completely identified with

[20:12] form

[20:15] and doesn't realize that every other

[20:18] form is an aspect of itself. Every other

[20:22] form

[20:25] and of course then you are just an

[20:27] isolated entity. It's a becomes quite

[20:30] unpleasant after a while.

[20:33] So you have to get together with other

[20:35] entities and instead of having an I form

[20:37] you have a we form us

[20:41] and that becomes encapsulated. It starts

[20:43] with a tribe of big family or a tribe us

[20:49] and all the others are

[20:52] totally weird and and evil

[21:00] people just beyond the mountains and

[21:02] another valley. You go there all

[21:05] dreadful.

[21:08] That was quite common and in some places

[21:10] still is when people didn't get around

[21:12] that much

[21:15] to the Greeks or or also the Romans.

[21:19] Everybody beyond were barbarians.

[21:21] The the word barbarian comes from trying

[21:24] to imitate the foreign language that

[21:26] those barbarians speak.

[21:38] So there comes then

[21:40] and for a while that the universe seems

[21:43] to be okay with that to have

[21:46] consciousness identified completely with

[21:48] form and

[21:51] then the movie

[21:55] goes on. You read history, world

[21:58] history, and that's the the movie of

[22:02] what happens when consciousness is

[22:04] identified totally with form.

[22:11] And then comes a point when

[22:15] it's time for another stage to arise

[22:17] where the dream of form is no longer

[22:22] you're no longer consciousness is

[22:24] beginning to awaken from complete

[22:27] identification with form.

[22:31] And that is happening to many humans.

[22:33] And this is why human beings are drawn

[22:36] to these to spiritual teachings with the

[22:39] awakening from the dream of form.

[22:47] Who am I?

[22:49] What does it mean I? What is identity?

[22:52] What does it mean when I say I? What

[22:55] does it feel like? What is I? What am I?

[23:00] Not most people yet if you ask them what

[23:03] is what who are you they will define

[23:06] when the word I

[23:09] in terms of form

[23:12] they will say well obviously this body

[23:15] that's I that comes maybe first and then

[23:17] there comes the mind with its

[23:21] accumulations its accumulated thought

[23:24] its thought habitual thought movements

[23:27] its memories ies

[23:30] they come the emotions that go with the

[23:33] thought movements the psychological form

[23:36] of I. So they say well I am this this

[23:41] body then there's a name which of course

[23:43] is just a sound you say John

[23:48] I am John

[23:51] and and many people say they think

[23:54] that's already a big part of who they

[23:55] are when they can say their name. Oh

[23:58] okay

[24:01] and then they add a little something

[24:03] else. I'm a an architect. Oh, okay.

[24:08] We're getting even closer to who you

[24:10] are.

[24:13] And I'm a father, which Okay, good. And

[24:18] your age? Okay. Something that's

[24:21] okay. We're almost there now. Just just

[24:24] need a few more details

[24:27] and then we know who you are.

[24:30] And and so you can put it on a piece of

[24:32] paper, a summary of it, or if you want a

[24:36] detailed account of who you are, you can

[24:37] write down your life history in a book

[24:41] and it becomes your autobiography.

[24:45] Oh, that's interesting. Now we know who

[24:47] you are.

[24:50] And if that's not enough and if you

[24:52] think there may be hidden parts of me,

[24:54] then you can go to psychoanalysis for 10

[24:56] years. And then all these hidden

[24:58] memories and hidden desires and feelings

[25:02] that you had when you were 4 and a half

[25:04] years old towards your mother and your

[25:07] or father and your grandmother and what

[25:10] they all readily they all come up and

[25:12] then you can add that and then okay now

[25:14] I've got it I've got my autobiography

[25:16] and I go that's I I'm me I'm complete

[25:19] now

[25:22] and then you look

[25:25] 50 years later, which is not much on a

[25:29] universal scale. 50 years is very

[25:31] little. I know that now. I thought when

[25:33] I was 20, 50 years was a lot.

[25:38] I'm a lot older than 50 by the way, by

[25:40] the body. The

[25:45] 50 years pass

[25:47] and what's left of

[25:50] the body and the psychological me, that

[25:54] entity in the head with its history.

[25:56] What's left?

[26:00] Nothing. Well, maybe there's a one or

[26:02] two copies left of your autobiography.

[26:04] And maybe one person finds a copy in an

[26:07] in secondhand bookshop. This is

[26:10] somebody's autobiography.

[26:14] and your grandchildren

[26:17] or their descendants.

[26:20] Well, after

[26:24] my mama my my mother passed away three

[26:26] years ago and I realized a few recently

[26:31] that

[26:34] I'm virtually the only person now who

[26:36] remembers her because all her friends

[26:39] died before she did and her family

[26:43] and all the other people who knew her

[26:45] only knew tiny fragments.

[26:48] At least I told she was a little bit of

[26:49] an eccentric and she was outspoken and

[26:54] and so on. They had a little fragments,

[26:56] but the person who really remembers her

[26:58] more than a fragment is me. And when I

[27:01] go,

[27:03] not nobody remembers her. And then all

[27:05] is left is photos. And a generation

[27:08] later, nobody will know who this person

[27:10] on the photo is. But this is strange how

[27:16] an identity evaporates

[27:19] that seems so solid and real

[27:23] and so

[27:25] form we are talking about form identity

[27:30] that is when you when you're asked who

[27:33] are you or you ask yourself who am I

[27:37] okay now is that is that all there is to

[27:42] Who you are is that what can be defined

[27:48] through form. What can be

[27:50] that which is form thought forms,

[27:53] emotional forms, physical forms, a

[27:56] conglomeration of that to get put

[27:58] together for a while becomes what you

[28:00] think is I. Is that really your eye,

[28:04] your identity

[28:07] or is is there something else?

[28:10] Well, perhaps we can just at this moment

[28:14] see as you sit here

[28:18] right at this moment, you don't remember

[28:22] your past. You don't have to. Let's

[28:25] pretend you don't have one. You have no

[28:28] past. There is no past. Let's say there

[28:30] is no past,

[28:33] which by the way is the truth. It's

[28:35] ultimately there is no past. There's

[28:36] only the now. So,

[28:40] okay. And no future. Let's pretend

[28:43] there's no future. Well, there is no

[28:44] future anyway, but

[28:48] there's only this. So, you can't remind

[28:50] yourself. You don't even unless there's

[28:52] a thought in your head that says I am

[28:55] such and such. Even that you don't know

[28:57] right now.

[28:59] Let's say you don't know anything about

[29:02] who you are. Nothing that you can

[29:05] formulate, conceptualize,

[29:08] co call something

[29:10] you don't. What is left is there? What

[29:14] is lost?

[29:16] Nothing is lost. In fact,

[29:20] when you encounter

[29:23] this

[29:26] which cannot be named which is a

[29:28] formless

[29:30] presence aliveness

[29:35] that's the you've touched your that

[29:38] which is beyond form consciousness

[29:41] itself

[29:44] and that is identity.

[29:47] That is where your sense of I comes

[29:48] from. And so you are more truly yourself

[29:52] when you don't remember your past

[29:56] than when you do remember your past.

[30:01] And you are more truly yourself when

[30:02] there's not a single thought in your

[30:04] head than when you are full of thinking

[30:07] thinking about me and my problems.

[30:13] And whenever you feel this sense of I

[30:17] this the light of consciousness which

[30:19] you can you can know directly

[30:22] in the stillness that is always there

[30:25] available to you as the essence your

[30:28] essence identity.

[30:31] Your essence identity timeless

[30:35] that's always there and that is one with

[30:38] universal consciousness. It's just

[30:40] coming through this form.

[30:44] It's never lost. When this form

[30:45] dissolves, the consciousness goes

[30:51] out like a little tentacle comes to

[30:56] [Music]

[30:58] being.

[31:01] So let's stay with this for a moment.

[31:04] Here

[31:06] you have no past or there is no past.

[31:11] No. What is lost? Nothing essential is

[31:14] lost.

[31:16] You get a stronger sense of who you are

[31:19] in your essence when you are not telling

[31:22] yourself in your mind who you are.

[31:30] This is why I said in stillness speaks I

[31:32] believe

[31:34] you are never more truly yourself than

[31:37] when you are still

[31:42] and still means of course the mind is

[31:46] become still. It's an inner doesn't

[31:49] whether there's noise outside or not

[31:51] doesn't matter. You're never more truly

[31:54] yourself than when you are still.

[31:57] Then you can sense

[32:00] the essence of who you are. And that

[32:03] does not depend on the age of the body.

[32:07] Whether you're 20 or 90, it's the same

[32:10] stillness

[32:13] that frees you then from the suffering

[32:15] that comes if you have identified with

[32:18] form which then sooner or later will

[32:21] leave you. You suffer.

[32:25] If you identify with a strong or

[32:27] beautiful body and that body eventually

[32:30] grows old,

[32:32] you begin to suffer

[32:35] because you

[32:38] seem to dissolve. You haven't realized

[32:40] who you are.

[32:46] And so we have

[32:50] you have form identity

[32:56] and essence identity.

[33:00] And

[33:03] suffering

[33:05] arises

[33:07] through

[33:11] knowing yourself only

[33:14] as form identity.

[33:18] My history, my story, my body, my past,

[33:23] my this, my that, my that, my my my.

[33:26] That's whatever you identify with in the

[33:28] world of form.

[33:31] If you know yourself only as that,

[33:35] that's a state of unconsciousness,

[33:39] the dreamlike state. Consciousness is

[33:42] dreaming the dream of form. And then it

[33:46] acts

[33:48] attempting

[33:51] to become free of its inner state of

[33:57] incompleteness,

[33:59] dissatisfaction

[34:01] and fear which is inevitable when all

[34:04] you know is your form identity.

[34:08] There's always underneath the surface or

[34:11] even very much on the surface there is

[34:15] dissatisfaction,

[34:17] fear,

[34:19] unease,

[34:22] discomfort,

[34:25] fear.

[34:29] I am not enough. This is not enough.

[34:34] This is not the right place where I am

[34:37] now. This is not the right people I'm

[34:40] with. This is not the right thing that

[34:42] I'm doing right now.

[34:46] There comes the need to

[34:51] go out and search

[34:54] for more forms that I can identify with

[34:57] so that I can feel more complete.

[35:02] But the only way you can actually reach

[35:05] the state of

[35:09] being at home in being rooted in in

[35:13] yourself without the dissatisfaction

[35:16] that always comes again and again and

[35:19] again and without the fear. The only way

[35:22] is encountering that which is beyond

[35:26] form to and it's so it's so much it's

[35:29] right here. It's closer. It's it's God's

[35:32] realization. It's another word for it,

[35:34] but let's not go there.

[35:38] The God within, the the timeless within.

[35:45] And so the universe then has the all the

[35:47] people who are into

[35:50] creating traditionally have been

[35:54] very unconscious because the those who

[35:56] were most identified with form had the

[35:59] strongest desire to manifest and create

[36:03] more things out there and and conquer

[36:05] another an empire or accumulate more and

[36:08] more possessions or have more power.

[36:12] So they got driven.

[36:17] So all the powerful people, the people

[36:19] who created human history, if you read

[36:21] the history books, they were deeply

[36:23] identified with form. And they're all

[36:25] unhappy of course

[36:28] very unhappy hoping by achieving this

[36:30] that or the other and and conquering

[36:32] this that or the other the other tribe

[36:34] or whatever to become free of their

[36:38] state of unhappiness and of

[36:40] incompleteness

[36:43] and never getting there.

[36:47] And that's been so traditionally the the

[36:51] doers

[36:53] there were always some people who were

[36:55] not into doing but in in many

[36:57] traditional societies they wasn't much

[37:00] of a place for them later monasteries

[37:01] came into being so they could become

[37:03] monks long story but

[37:10] so

[37:16] we still associate at going out and

[37:19] doing with unconsciousness.

[37:23] I believe there's a line by TS Elliott

[37:26] in a poem

[37:29] where he says, "The best lack all

[37:32] conviction

[37:34] and the worst are full of passionate

[37:37] intensity."

[37:39] Talking about contemporary humanity,

[37:42] early 20th century.

[37:44] The best like all convictions means that

[37:46] they don't know what to do. They get

[37:48] because they are torn between there's

[37:51] some inkling of inside them of their

[37:54] essence. So they the they're not the

[37:58] desire to to do to to is not as

[38:04] overpowering as in those who are totally

[38:06] identified with their former identity.

[38:18] So that's an interesting that where we

[38:21] are at as humanity as a whole is an a

[38:26] realization

[38:28] that

[38:31] there is an essence that has nothing to

[38:35] do with a form. And only if we are

[38:38] rooted, if some of our attention is in

[38:41] that formless essence,

[38:45] can we

[38:49] do things in this world without creating

[38:52] more havoc

[38:55] and suffering for others and ourselves.

[39:01] If we only go into doing without the

[39:04] rootedness in the

[39:08] eternal dimension

[39:10] which is stillness which is here now

[39:13] always now inseparable from now.

[39:19] If you whatever you do and you lose

[39:21] yourself in the doing

[39:24] identify it again with form and creating

[39:27] some new problem.

[39:32] So the foundation for all doing

[39:36] is conscious being.

[39:40] So that's the important realization

[39:42] about

[39:44] what about manifesting.

[39:47] That's good. But before we talk about

[39:49] manifesting,

[39:52] before we build some some new building

[39:54] or structure, get the foundation first.

[39:58] Do do you have the foundation? Don't

[39:59] start building a house without any

[40:01] foundation. Let's manifest this great

[40:04] business empire. This is going to change

[40:07] the world. Yes. But have you laid the

[40:09] foundation? What foundation?

[40:12] Being. Being

[40:16] the formless the eternal type. No, we

[40:20] haven't thought about that.

[40:22] No, of course you haven't. You can't

[40:23] think about it.

[40:29] The foundation is

[40:34] being rooted, realizing what that means.

[40:37] What is what being is not intellectually

[40:40] not by trying to understand because as

[40:43] you may have noticed

[40:45] there's nothing much to understand about

[40:47] being

[40:49] you can't being can you explain a bit

[40:51] more please being

[40:54] stillness I don't understand stillness

[40:57] can you explain stillness

[40:59] no because there's nothing in it to

[41:01] explain you can't look it under a

[41:04] microscope or dissect

[41:08] Aspects of Stillness, PhD.

[41:18] So the the human

[41:23] needs to find its

[41:25] his or her

[41:27] timeless and formless

[41:31] essence. Essence identity. That's the

[41:34] foundation.

[41:36] If you haven't, if you haven't that,

[41:38] forget about manifesting or creating.

[41:40] You'll just create more trouble. That's

[41:42] okay. Then you're at the stage where the

[41:44] universe still likes to create trouble.

[41:47] That's okay.

[41:51] And I'm not saying you you you you

[41:55] find that which is so close closer to

[41:59] you than hands and feet. The stillness

[42:02] that the formless consciousness itself

[42:05] without which there would be no sense

[42:07] perception and no thought and no

[42:09] feeling. That it's the light in which

[42:12] everything appears. that which the life

[42:15] within the form

[42:18] and that's always there as your S right

[42:21] here.

[42:23] It it knows itself

[42:25] here.

[42:27] It's not that I know it.

[42:31] It is I.

[42:35] I am it.

[42:37] I and it are one.

[42:42] I know myself. Sounds like two again,

[42:45] but that's because we're using language.

[42:47] I know myself. I know. I I the eye knows

[42:52] itself.

[42:54] It's so this is the end of all

[42:57] differentiation and complexity because

[42:59] you're going back to the timeless

[43:01] unmanifested source of all life.

[43:04] There's no complexity in that at all.

[43:08] Depths. Yes. infinite depth, the

[43:11] vastness

[43:14] as vast or vaster than the outer space.

[43:17] It's it's inner space. The vastness of

[43:21] that inner spaciousness.

[43:25] So what you thought of as I

[43:29] is a tiny tiny bit and underneath

[43:33] there's the vastness

[43:35] that is as vast although not an

[43:37] extension as outer space which is an

[43:40] externalization

[43:41] of who you are within the vastness of

[43:45] inner space.

[43:46] People don't know how to what extent

[43:49] they have reduced their own reality to

[43:53] this little entity that runs around the

[43:55] surface of the planet for a few years

[43:57] and then evaporates.

[44:01] And of course that's the form.

[44:04] But what is it that animates that form?

[44:13] the foundation and is not something that

[44:15] you find say okay I've got it now

[44:21] and then you forget it again and you and

[44:23] then you start getting worried about the

[44:25] next thing you have to do

[44:29] and identify it with every thought that

[44:32] comes again and reacting you and you

[44:35] lost no the the secret is to stay

[44:39] connected with the being while you do.

[44:43] And then whatever you do is conscious

[44:45] doing, not unconscious move, unconscious

[44:48] creation of form the but conscious

[44:52] creation. And maybe you'll do much less

[44:55] than you would have done before, but

[44:57] it's it's more powerful, very different

[45:01] kind of doing,

[45:03] conscious doing and conscious

[45:06] manifesting. If that's what happens

[45:09] through this form, foundation comes

[45:12] first and remains primary.

[45:15] Being needs to remain in your life.

[45:19] Whether or not you are engaged in a lot

[45:22] of doing or not, being is primary.

[45:26] If you lose touch with being, you lose

[45:29] yourself in your mind and you lose

[45:31] yourself in doing. And you don't do any

[45:33] good for anybody really.

[45:41] And

[45:42] it may well be that

[45:45] the universal consciousness

[45:50] may use you

[45:53] and

[45:54] you do something that is then in

[45:56] alignment with this new stage that is

[46:01] arising on the planet. And that is

[46:06] conscious creation, cocreation. Before

[46:09] the universe created

[46:13] unconsciously and now through the human

[46:16] form, there's a possibility that the

[46:18] universe can create consciously.

[46:22] In that sense, all those books and

[46:24] teachings are quite exciting that tell

[46:26] you that

[46:29] there is a

[46:32] an important relationship between your

[46:34] your thoughts and so on and your outer

[46:38] reality

[46:40] and that thought creates form. Yes, this

[46:42] is true. Thought creates form.

[46:47] And it's exciting that if humans can

[46:49] fully realize that then fully realize

[46:53] their power of their creative power

[46:55] which is vast

[46:58] as unlimited eventually they'll know

[47:01] that as the universal creative power

[47:04] because humans and the universe are not

[47:06] separate. You are an aspect of the

[47:08] universe. You are the universe

[47:11] expressing itself as this form.

[47:14] So it's wonderful creative power is

[47:17] there but

[47:21] it's not the wanting power that is the

[47:24] to to answer the question that somebody

[47:26] asked

[47:28] what about this wanting needing comes

[47:32] from a state of dissatisfaction and

[47:36] insufficiency.

[47:38] Now Buddha called it desire

[47:42] and the Buddha of course said become

[47:45] free of desire

[47:47] and then that's the end of suffering.

[47:50] He looked at humans and he saw that

[47:52] there was this unconscious

[47:55] reaching out continuously for

[48:00] wanting. He called it desire. I call

[48:02] wanting is a more direct term that you

[48:05] can actually feel. I want I need. I must

[48:07] have. Now this is still very much in

[48:11] many humans there. The identification

[48:14] with form that results in continuous

[48:16] wanting

[48:18] and it keeps a lot of our economic

[48:23] uh

[48:26] system going. Advertising

[48:30] depends on humans who are identified

[48:32] with form.

[48:36] It does not mean that when you are when

[48:39] you know your essence you cannot enjoy

[48:41] form anymore that you will say no more.

[48:45] Maybe some some humans might do that but

[48:49] again there's a possibility of living in

[48:52] balance

[48:53] with form. You can enjoy all the forms

[48:57] around you and even create new forms

[49:00] without any sense that this is mine or

[49:04] any sense of attachment or any

[49:07] identification with the form. And only

[49:10] then can there be true enjoyment of

[49:13] forms and beauty. But then the

[49:16] compulsive

[49:18] nature of your relationship with form

[49:20] will go. the compulsive running to

[49:23] shopping malls the day before Christmas

[49:25] and then running to shopping malls again

[49:27] the day after Christmas because they've

[49:29] reduced the prices even more or

[49:31] whatever. It's amazing. Before

[49:34] Christmas, they're all running and then

[49:35] after Christmas it's even cheaper.

[49:44] I need I must have.

[49:50] That's not the true enjoyment of form.

[49:54] You can enjoy form by looking at a shop

[49:56] window and say, "Oh, beautiful." Well,

[49:59] what do you want to buy it? No.

[50:05] Or you might buy it and then it's in

[50:06] your house for a while. Beautiful.

[50:08] Beautiful. And then maybe the next day

[50:11] you arrive and a burglar has been there

[50:13] and it's it's gone.

[50:17] Oh,

[50:19] and some it may only be at that moment

[50:21] that you know whether you were attached

[50:23] or not

[50:26] because you might have had it in your

[50:28] home and said, "I'm not attached at

[50:30] all."

[50:32] But when you get home the next day and

[50:34] the burglar has taken it, then you'll

[50:37] know whether or not that was true. What

[50:39] you thought that you were not attached

[50:42] that's in good test.

[50:53] So we need to then

[50:58] doing

[50:59] and stillness need to be in balance.

[51:03] Now it does not mean that you separate

[51:05] your life into one part of your life as

[51:07] you sit still.

[51:10] and in the other part of your life you

[51:12] run around. That's not the balance. The

[51:15] balance is when the two are fused

[51:18] together.

[51:19] And even while you're walking around the

[51:21] shopping mall, not running around the

[51:23] shopping mall, walking,

[51:26] you can be in stillness as you look

[51:28] around. You may perhaps you go with the

[51:31] convention of buying Christmas presents

[51:33] or maybe you don't. Doesn't matter if

[51:36] you do. Okay, let's see what I can find.

[51:41] Still, bring the Brillness into the

[51:44] shopping mall. Let it come with you into

[51:46] the shopping mall. Just to give one

[51:49] example in the North American context

[51:54] or the bazaar or whatever if you're

[51:56] somewhere else

[51:58] and see if you can even while your

[52:01] attention flows out

[52:04] have some attention within

[52:08] feel the background of aliveness or

[52:11] stillness.

[52:13] As I always point out, the beginning of

[52:15] that is feeling the inner body,

[52:18] the aliveness within the body. That's

[52:20] the doorway into the formless.

[52:23] You're already moving into the formless.

[52:26] Feel the alive. Your the body is alive.

[52:28] No, it's alive. It must be alive. But

[52:31] can you feel that it is alive? And

[52:33] that's that's life energy. It's the

[52:37] bridge between formless and form. And

[52:40] there it is.

[52:43] And then if you can walk around a city,

[52:46] well here you don't walk, but you drive

[52:50] around. If you drive around the city,

[52:55] can you drive with not too much

[52:58] thinking, just presence

[53:02] or walk around to the shopping mall and

[53:04] just look

[53:08] there's you bring a stillness in

[53:10] wherever you go.

[53:12] And then when you have to think, you

[53:14] think. You can pick up a phone and say,

[53:16] "Oh, I found something nice. Maybe he

[53:18] would should I get this for for my mom

[53:20] or dad?" Whatever.

[53:23] Bring

[53:25] always the two dimensions.

[53:30] That's the most vital thing. And then

[53:34] you can also look into

[53:38] manifesting. But then the question is

[53:40] what is it that wants to manifest

[53:43] through this form? It's no longer

[53:47] this is what I want the surf surface

[53:50] eye.

[53:52] What is it that

[53:54] wants to manifest

[53:57] through this form very different

[54:02] and you may you may not know that

[54:04] immediately. There may be a time period

[54:07] when you don't know exactly what to do

[54:10] with your so-called life which is not

[54:12] yours just a conventional way of

[54:15] speaking there maybe for a while you

[54:18] don't know what to do with your life and

[54:20] so you just there being as still as

[54:24] possible do your whatever activity

[54:26] you're already doing and but bring

[54:28] stillness into it presence into it and

[54:32] then at some point either the

[54:34] realization of what it is that you need

[54:36] to do that wants to be done through you

[54:40] comes I from the outside somebody tells

[54:43] you something ah or you wake up one

[54:46] morning and ah this is what I have to do

[54:50] and then you start taking action

[54:53] always making sure you're not so

[54:55] attached to the outcome

[54:58] that you think you're it's more

[55:00] important than the present moment

[55:05] An action can become egoic when you

[55:08] lose. It becomes egoic when you lose

[55:11] yourself in the doing.

[55:14] And a good sign or good criterion is

[55:18] whether when something happens to that

[55:22] is

[55:24] against your

[55:27] seems to be an obstacle, a person or

[55:30] situation. and say I want to do this or

[55:32] achieve that and suddenly somebody says

[55:34] no you can't do that

[55:37] no they won't allow you to do that no

[55:39] for some or a situation becomes a

[55:42] challenge it's difficult it's blocked

[55:44] you want to go somebody says no you

[55:46] you're not qualified to do that you

[55:48] shouldn't do that it's not allowed

[55:50] whatever you you need this and that

[55:52] which you don't have

[55:55] obstacles come all the time

[55:59] if you get upset head.

[56:03] That means the ego is back in the doing

[56:06] when obstacles come and you go.

[56:12] If you're not upset, you're still

[56:14] present and you look at whatever the

[56:16] obstacle is very and you look at it with

[56:19] this penetrating gaze of presence

[56:24] which is stillness also. You look at

[56:27] whatever this the obstacle arises, you

[56:31] bring this penetrating

[56:34] stillness to it and that is like a light

[56:36] shines on it

[56:39] and then

[56:40] that dissolves the obstacle or it shows

[56:43] you a way around it.

[56:46] That's the power of consciousness.

[56:49] It always happens. Either it shows you

[56:51] how to get around it or it shows you how

[56:54] to use the very force of the obstacle

[56:59] and you turn it around it. The obstacle

[57:01] is wanting to go this way and you go

[57:03] with it for I'm just demonstrating now

[57:07] something counteracts what you want to

[57:09] do. It's coming this way. You want to go

[57:12] that way. But you don't meet it head on

[57:14] and start complaining say no this

[57:16] shouldn't be happening.

[57:18] No, perhaps you go with it for a little

[57:22] while and you go

[57:25] and then you turn it around

[57:28] and the very power that was against you

[57:33] then works for you and you achieve your

[57:36] goal through that. It happens and this

[57:38] is the wisdom that comes with

[57:40] non-resistance.

[57:43] So whenever you go into this conscious

[57:45] doing,

[57:47] resistance always pulls you back into

[57:50] unconscious doing can easily happen

[57:52] because it's an old habit pattern.

[57:54] Unconscious doing inner resistance to

[57:58] whatever arises in the present moment

[58:01] pulls you back. Inner resistance is some

[58:04] form of negativity, some form of

[58:07] complaining, some form of uh fear, uh

[58:12] aggression, anger.

[58:16] And this is important because whenever

[58:18] you complain about what somebody else

[58:20] does that, you're already beginning to

[58:22] fall into that trap of unconsciousness.

[58:26] No. And of course you yes you meet lots

[58:29] of people who are still trapped in ego

[58:31] and they may not like

[58:34] what you do

[58:38] but just no judgment

[58:42] just look at what the situ they say this

[58:44] they want that you want that and they

[58:48] don't say oh they're dreadful I know

[58:50] what he wants he wants to deceive me he

[58:53] and he always does that he wants go just

[58:56] Oh, just clear this is the city. This is

[58:59] what he says he wants. This is where I

[59:02] want to go. Then see

[59:05] okay never no never any judgment of a

[59:09] person or situation just clear seeing

[59:13] clear facing. This is the power is like

[59:16] a light beam of consciousness. it falls

[59:20] onto

[59:22] illuminates that that that situation

[59:25] that moment that that that person

[59:28] that's the power of consciousness

[59:31] no resistance

[59:34] Jesus already talked about the power of

[59:36] nonresistance

[59:40] and that

[59:42] the moment resistance comes you're drawn

[59:44] back into

[59:46] identification with form on

[59:51] protection, resistance, fighting.

[59:55] It's it's a

[59:58] are you going to succeed all the time in

[1:00:01] this? No. It's a it's a shift from

[1:00:06] a way of doing that has been with us for

[1:00:08] thousands of years and a new way of

[1:00:11] doing that is only arising now. So you

[1:00:14] are transitional beings between the old

[1:00:17] consciousness and the new. And don't

[1:00:20] judge yourself if you fall back

[1:00:23] occasionally into the old consciousness.

[1:00:26] But you will quickly know it. How will

[1:00:28] you know it?

[1:00:32] You begin to suffer.

[1:00:37] You get upset.

[1:00:39] You get upset about situations. You get

[1:00:42] upset about people. You get upset about

[1:00:44] what somebody said. You get upset about

[1:00:46] what somebody should have said but

[1:00:47] didn't. You get upset about what

[1:00:49] somebody did or failed to do.

[1:00:54] Oh, there's a sign that you've fallen

[1:00:56] back.

[1:00:58] Beautiful line in the course in

[1:01:00] miracles.

[1:01:02] I am never upset for the reason I think.

[1:01:09] Now upset is a generic term could be any

[1:01:13] any any

[1:01:16] in any way that yeah out of alignment

[1:01:19] with isness. There's a disagreement with

[1:01:21] the isness of the present moment and

[1:01:23] then you become upset. Now

[1:01:27] many people are upset a lot of the time

[1:01:28] but they don't realize they are upset.

[1:01:30] And if you talk to them and say why are

[1:01:32] you upset they say I'm not upset I'm

[1:01:34] just bloody angry.

[1:01:39] Oh, I'm not upset. I'm deeply hurt

[1:01:41] because he didn't invite me to his

[1:01:43] birthday party. Deeply hurt.

[1:01:48] Not upset.

[1:01:56] I'm never upset for the reason I think.

[1:02:00] Now the deeper meaning of this of course

[1:02:02] is

[1:02:05] you are upset because you have lost

[1:02:09] awareness

[1:02:11] of being your essence identity

[1:02:16] and the reason you think is superficial.

[1:02:19] If it's not if when you lose

[1:02:21] connectedness with being

[1:02:25] just wait a few minutes and something or

[1:02:27] somebody will upset you.

[1:02:36] I'm and so if we believe that that which

[1:02:40] seems to cause the upset is the actual

[1:02:43] cause this is not the case these are

[1:02:46] interchangeable could be anything

[1:02:48] and it will

[1:02:51] so you'll be upset many times every day

[1:02:55] by other people by situations by the

[1:02:58] slightest things or the biggest things.

[1:03:00] Upset upset upset by the entire world is

[1:03:03] so frustrating.

[1:03:10] I'm never So that's a little sign then

[1:03:13] if you're upset, you want to go

[1:03:15] somewhere but but people are not

[1:03:18] cooperative,

[1:03:20] situations are not cooperative.

[1:03:30] And you can talk to yourself.

[1:03:38] So that's a good sign. Then you can use

[1:03:40] also shows you to what extent

[1:03:44] the ego is active in you because what's

[1:03:46] upset is not you, it's the ego in you.

[1:03:48] The ego is the erroneous identification

[1:03:51] with form, a false sense of eye

[1:03:57] uh which wanted something to make itself

[1:04:00] feel

[1:04:03] more at ease or bigger or more important

[1:04:06] or whatever and is frustrated in its

[1:04:08] aims.

[1:04:10] Well,

[1:04:12] well, that's a good then it's like a

[1:04:14] little

[1:04:18] if you had a little It's almost like

[1:04:19] having a little technical device on your

[1:04:22] arm that tells you whenever your ego

[1:04:24] comes back, it goes beep beep beep beep.

[1:04:30] You don't need that. Well, if you if

[1:04:33] somebody here is a technical wizard and

[1:04:35] is going to invent it, it's fine.

[1:04:38] But you don't need that because all you

[1:04:41] need is to know if you are upset or not

[1:04:44] in everyday life.

[1:04:48] Now for many walking egos,

[1:04:51] upset is their normal state. They might

[1:04:54] not even know it anymore because they're

[1:04:56] upset virtually all the time

[1:05:02] and just waiting for some other thing to

[1:05:05] happen to explain why they are upset

[1:05:07] again.

[1:05:09] But of course there's the underlying

[1:05:12] dissatisfaction is always there.

[1:05:16] Foundation then is

[1:05:21] stillness. That's the return journey.

[1:05:26] So can we be then simultaneously

[1:05:32] in the return journey to the source

[1:05:36] of all life

[1:05:39] spiritual dimension God stillness

[1:05:43] and

[1:05:45] still

[1:05:47] be active in this world.

[1:05:51] And then if we are that

[1:05:55] what we then do in this world becomes

[1:05:58] empowered by

[1:06:02] the intelligence that emanates

[1:06:05] from the source

[1:06:08] and then the source creates through you.

[1:06:15] No longer the power of the source is

[1:06:17] then no longer distorted by the ego and

[1:06:21] its power greatly diminished to a

[1:06:24] trickle.

[1:06:27] So the source is like light you can say

[1:06:30] sunlight wanting to shine through fully

[1:06:33] but for a long time it's become reduced

[1:06:35] to to tiny little hole. There's a little

[1:06:38] bit of light coming through just to keep

[1:06:40] you going.

[1:06:42] And now

[1:06:44] it can come through and use you. When we

[1:06:49] use language, we always create duality.

[1:06:52] So when I say it uses you, it's not

[1:06:54] quite true because you are it. But

[1:06:57] language does that. It uses let's then

[1:07:00] once we know that it's okay, we can use

[1:07:02] those words.

[1:07:04] It uses you then. Now what exactly it

[1:07:08] wants, I don't know. Perhaps it simply

[1:07:11] wants to

[1:07:13] create beauty or forms that are alive

[1:07:16] and joyful and enjoy that. It's enjoyed

[1:07:19] the drama

[1:07:21] of of for thousands, hundreds of

[1:07:24] thousands of years, it's enjoyed the

[1:07:26] drama of people cutting each other to

[1:07:28] pieces and

[1:07:31] eating each other up. It's enjoyed the

[1:07:33] drama. The movie is changing now

[1:07:37] and perhaps it's creating a much more

[1:07:38] pleasant

[1:07:41] movie and who knows what is in store for

[1:07:45] us. I never I cannot predict the future.

[1:07:48] I'm not particularly interested. This

[1:07:50] the present moment is wonderful enough.

[1:07:54] But something is there's a change

[1:07:57] happening

[1:07:59] and of course there comes a comes a

[1:08:01] point in your life when

[1:08:04] you may not this the source may become

[1:08:07] much more important than whatever you

[1:08:09] do. So you reach a time when you say

[1:08:13] well I've done this and that and it's

[1:08:15] been wonderful and then all yours you

[1:08:18] are just still and you emanate

[1:08:22] that stillness and even then you affect

[1:08:25] the world around you without any doing

[1:08:27] if you if you just be there and whoever

[1:08:31] you come into contact with

[1:08:34] is some almost one could say

[1:08:36] transmission even if they don't notice

[1:08:38] it you and do that and some humans

[1:08:41] perhaps will mostly

[1:08:45] live in that way.

[1:08:47] How much doing

[1:08:50] you

[1:08:52] do, how much varies from form to form,

[1:08:58] person to person.

[1:09:00] Some will be very active and conscious

[1:09:03] into conscious doing and create and and

[1:09:07] enjoy the creation.

[1:09:10] And others may do relatively little

[1:09:14] or may just continue to do what they're

[1:09:16] doing already. But whatever they are

[1:09:19] doing will be a vehicle for

[1:09:22] consciousness or stillness that flows

[1:09:24] into it. This power,

[1:09:27] this beautiful energy that flows. It

[1:09:30] could be even a person who just gives

[1:09:32] information. Let's say you work at an

[1:09:35] airport and you give information to

[1:09:37] people.

[1:09:39] And maybe you stay there and then

[1:09:43] everybody who comes to ask where's gate

[1:09:47] number 16 you say well

[1:09:51] you go that way and it's only about a

[1:09:54] 3minut walk

[1:09:57] and there were not only the words

[1:10:00] there was a transmission of stillness

[1:10:03] with the words not in the sense that I

[1:10:05] am going to transmit stillness

[1:10:08] It it happens because you let go of the

[1:10:11] sense of doing of I do. It happens

[1:10:16] and the person this is one traditional

[1:10:19] word for it is blessing. The person goes

[1:10:22] away being blessed with that energy

[1:10:26] and so

[1:10:28] beautiful. So, so what you do really is

[1:10:35] secondary. Some may do great things,

[1:10:39] others may do things that look on the

[1:10:41] surface

[1:10:43] not so significant.

[1:10:46] And ultimately

[1:10:48] what you do

[1:10:50] is secondary,

[1:10:53] but how you do it is primary. When the

[1:10:56] how means

[1:10:58] the consciousness that flows into what

[1:11:02] you do

[1:11:04] or if you're working with your hands

[1:11:06] again can also happen that how do you

[1:11:10] put together this piece of wood and this

[1:11:13] piece of wood. There can be presence

[1:11:17] that flows into the doing and that's

[1:11:20] beautiful

[1:11:23] and that expresses itself in the final

[1:11:26] product. If somebody something is made

[1:11:29] in the state of presence then it it

[1:11:32] contains energetically it contains

[1:11:35] quality

[1:11:37] quality.

[1:11:40] Now there are perhaps quite a few things

[1:11:43] in this world

[1:11:45] that are not at all conducive to

[1:11:49] presence. Maybe it could be certain

[1:11:52] things that are

[1:11:55] extremely repetitive if you even that

[1:11:59] perhaps is possible. But let's say

[1:12:02] you're in a factory and all you do every

[1:12:04] day is

[1:12:08] well probably the by by this time you

[1:12:10] probably have been replaced by machine

[1:12:12] anyway but

[1:12:15] there are certain things or you live in

[1:12:17] an office environment that is so insane

[1:12:22] that

[1:12:24] when you bring stillness into it there

[1:12:27] is an incompat incompatibility

[1:12:32] with your surroundings

[1:12:34] that will result in your

[1:12:37] dismissal

[1:12:41] or will result in your walking out.

[1:12:46] But if there is even the slightest

[1:12:48] compatibility, if it's not 100% insane,

[1:12:52] the environment, if it's only 90%

[1:12:54] insane,

[1:12:56] then there may be a possibility that if

[1:12:58] you bring stillness to it, this alert

[1:13:02] stillness, you walk into the office

[1:13:06] and you listen

[1:13:08] and you're alert

[1:13:10] and you answer the phone

[1:13:13] and you go to the committee meetings

[1:13:15] where everybody is

[1:13:18] and you sit there and listen to

[1:13:20] everybody. You don't say, "Oh,

[1:13:21] everybody's insane.

[1:13:24] You know they're insane, but you don't

[1:13:26] say it mentally."

[1:13:31] They're not insane in their essence.

[1:13:33] That is on the surface.

[1:13:36] And you are there as the still point. It

[1:13:39] doesn't mean you can't speak anymore,

[1:13:41] but you embody the the being rootedness

[1:13:44] in being. And then it is possible if

[1:13:47] it's only 90% the environment is only

[1:13:50] 90% insane

[1:13:53] some change is possible

[1:13:55] and perhaps the one or two people will

[1:13:58] be changed by their interaction with you

[1:14:04] and a ch shift happens in them.

[1:14:08] Or if it's a meeting, suddenly there's a

[1:14:12] change in energy in the room.

[1:14:16] Or suddenly you are the only person who

[1:14:18] says something meaningful and suddenly

[1:14:20] everybody listens. Oh,

[1:14:24] or your silence is enough to bring some

[1:14:26] harmony to the surroundings.

[1:14:30] Many ways in which this can affect

[1:14:35] the outer world.

[1:14:39] And even if you if you stay at home

[1:14:44] and all you do every day is

[1:14:47] water the plants in the garden

[1:14:51] and make a cup of tea

[1:14:54] and look around

[1:14:57] at the beauty

[1:14:59] like a little child but with a depth

[1:15:02] that is perhaps not yet there in the

[1:15:03] child. a depth of non-conceptual

[1:15:06] knowing.

[1:15:10] Then at this you have you are a point

[1:15:14] where the universe is contemplating

[1:15:18] its own creation

[1:15:21] and knowing its own beauty and its

[1:15:25] sacredness and its aliveness

[1:15:29] through you.

[1:15:33] And that's enough for fulfilled life,

[1:15:35] isn't it? That's enough. The

[1:15:39] the mind is in yes, but I should be

[1:15:41] doing something meaningful that is

[1:15:43] meaningful. And for some people, that is

[1:15:47] how they contribute

[1:15:49] to the shift in consciousness by being a

[1:15:52] point of consciousness

[1:15:55] through which the universe sees its own

[1:16:00] sacredness, its own beauty. where the

[1:16:02] flower recognizes its own beauty because

[1:16:04] the flower doesn't know it's beautiful.

[1:16:07] It needs you to perceive it and respond

[1:16:10] to it and go

[1:16:12] not call it anything but go a

[1:16:18] really there is no ultimately separation

[1:16:20] between you and the flower. It's a

[1:16:23] single field. So when you contemplate

[1:16:26] the flower, the flower becomes conscious

[1:16:29] of itself through it's one

[1:16:32] consciousness.

[1:16:35] And so if you provide that,

[1:16:37] that's a wonder. That's the universe

[1:16:39] waking up through this form to its own

[1:16:43] sacredness and beauty and aliveness and

[1:16:45] depth. And you all you do is walk around

[1:16:48] the garden every day

[1:16:51] and make a cup of tea.

[1:16:56] It's

[1:16:58] wonderful.

[1:17:01] And and if occasional thoughts come, you

[1:17:04] maybe thoughts that come and will say,

[1:17:07] "Wow,

[1:17:10] I made all that."

[1:17:16] You become like God says, "And God saw

[1:17:19] it. He he rested on the seventh day and

[1:17:23] he saw that it was it was good or

[1:17:25] something like that. Every at the end of

[1:17:27] May he saw that it was good. See the the

[1:17:30] goodness of all that.

[1:17:34] And so it varies. You may be

[1:17:39] I call one word I have for that which I

[1:17:42] used in New Earth. Um

[1:17:46] a person who is not called to do very

[1:17:48] much

[1:17:50] a frequency holder

[1:17:53] because what what you do is not a doing.

[1:17:56] You hold the frequency of that

[1:17:59] consciousness of presence by and you

[1:18:01] don't have to do anything. You just hold

[1:18:03] the frequency

[1:18:05] by embodying it by embodying presence.

[1:18:11] That's a fulfilled life. Every moment is

[1:18:13] fulfilled.

[1:18:17] And who knows it could be that you you

[1:18:20] do that for two years and one morning

[1:18:22] you wake up and suddenly say

[1:18:27] suddenly something wants to be done and

[1:18:29] suddenly you start doing something and

[1:18:31] you pick up the phone and said we're

[1:18:34] going to have do this a huge enterprise

[1:18:37] where everybody can come and to

[1:18:39] experience beauty and healing and so on.

[1:18:41] I'm going to transform my garden into

[1:18:43] into a healing center and I'm going to

[1:18:46] maybe maybe not.

[1:19:09] One person asked the question is

[1:19:11] connected with this uh somebody who is

[1:19:14] fully awake, would they still have a

[1:19:17] personal identity?

[1:19:22] And of course we know the answer by now.

[1:19:27] You are in touch with

[1:19:29] your essence identity and the person can

[1:19:33] still operate.

[1:19:35] You have the two there the two

[1:19:36] dimensions. You have your personal

[1:19:38] identity but you are not lost in your

[1:19:40] personal identity.

[1:19:43] You know that is only it is not

[1:19:45] ultimately who you are. It is only

[1:19:49] temporarily

[1:19:51] who you are on the surface

[1:19:54] but not who you are in your essence. And

[1:19:58] so in that sense, no, you still have a

[1:20:02] personality,

[1:20:04] but you are not possessed by your

[1:20:07] personality.

[1:20:09] It still operates

[1:20:11] and you can function normally. You don't

[1:20:14] need to look weird,

[1:20:16] but if you do, that's fine. Also

[1:20:24] you certainly have no desire to stand

[1:20:27] out and say I am special. Of course then

[1:20:29] you would have fallen back into some

[1:20:31] form identity. There is something to be

[1:20:34] careful of which is called the spiritual

[1:20:37] ego. One could say uh and that is the

[1:20:41] identification with form.

[1:20:44] Coming back even sometimes to people who

[1:20:48] are able to periodically

[1:20:51] ex go into the stillness and feel the

[1:20:55] power and be that

[1:20:57] and then they come out again. And then

[1:21:00] the old ego pattern

[1:21:03] reasserts itself and it remembers the

[1:21:07] beauty of stillness and the power of

[1:21:10] stillness and then it says, "Oh, I am

[1:21:14] very special,

[1:21:17] more special than you." Well, it may not

[1:21:20] say that in words because the ego at

[1:21:23] that stage can be very subtle. So, it

[1:21:25] doesn't say more special than you, but

[1:21:26] there's just a sense of superiority.

[1:21:34] that can creep in easily the sense of

[1:21:36] me. And again, one needs to be careful.

[1:21:42] Any kind of

[1:21:44] conceptual identity that you really

[1:21:47] believe in is another trap.

[1:21:51] being trapped in form.

[1:21:55] Ultimately,

[1:21:58] you only

[1:22:00] you're only yourself fully when you have

[1:22:05] virtually no concept in your head of who

[1:22:07] you actually are.

[1:22:11] Now that doesn't mean when somebody asks

[1:22:13] me when I go somewhere whatever

[1:22:19] across a border somewhere somebody says

[1:22:21] well what's your what do you do what's

[1:22:23] your profession

[1:22:25] or what do you do uh I don't complicate

[1:22:29] things by saying

[1:22:31] I don't do or

[1:22:37] I be I just

[1:22:41] [Laughter]

[1:22:43] [Music]

[1:22:50] And so it's good if you have a little

[1:22:53] concept that you can give to a person if

[1:22:55] the situation requires it. You can say

[1:22:57] I'm such and such and then they they

[1:22:59] believe you.

[1:23:09] Don't say I'm a spiritual teacher

[1:23:12] when you cross a border

[1:23:21] teacher is okay spiritual teacher

[1:23:24] and of course you're not a spiritual

[1:23:26] teacher and I am not a spiritual teacher

[1:23:28] because that's another form identity if

[1:23:32] then you believe I I am in spiritual.

[1:23:35] That's who I am.

[1:23:37] Okay. I'm And then the next moment when

[1:23:40] I go do my shopping,

[1:23:43] I'm no longer

[1:23:46] a space of allowed presence in the

[1:23:49] supermarket,

[1:23:50] but I'm I carry around the identity of

[1:23:55] here's a spiritual teachers walking

[1:23:57] around the aisle.

[1:24:08] Very subtle traps can happen.

[1:24:14] [Music]

[1:24:23] Now that doesn't mean that at this

[1:24:25] moment this form spiritual teaching

[1:24:28] happens through this form. So I could

[1:24:30] say at this moment I'm a spiritual

[1:24:32] teacher but when I get up I'm no longer

[1:24:34] a spiritual teacher. It's only a

[1:24:36] function. It's temporary in the same way

[1:24:39] that I could do somebody's accounts.

[1:24:40] Well I couldn't but

[1:24:43] and I would be an accountant but if I

[1:24:46] carry accountant around with me in my

[1:24:48] head I'm a walking accountant.

[1:24:52] I mean that's a terrible trap. You know

[1:24:55] it's only if these are only functions.

[1:24:57] They're not who you are.

[1:25:00] or whatever it is, any identification

[1:25:03] with that brings you back into form.

[1:25:08] And so to be free

[1:25:11] and that's a continuous practice in

[1:25:14] daily life

[1:25:16] to be as

[1:25:20] to one can express it negatively. It's

[1:25:23] not negative, but it sounds sometimes

[1:25:25] negative

[1:25:27] to walk around as nobody in particular.

[1:25:32] Not be anybody in particular, just be as

[1:25:36] a presence, but nobody in particular.

[1:25:40] Just just an alive presence.

[1:25:43] You don't need to be anybody in

[1:25:45] particular except when you conform to

[1:25:48] the conventions. When you talk about

[1:25:50] yourself, it's fine. You observe the

[1:25:52] conventions of this world and say I'm a

[1:25:54] doctor, I'm an accountant, I'm this, I'm

[1:25:56] that. Not a spirited teacher, but

[1:25:57] whatever.

[1:26:01] But not to be anybody in particular.

[1:26:03] This is these to be free of carrying

[1:26:06] around with you

[1:26:09] a a defined identity

[1:26:13] which is either in many cases it either

[1:26:16] take puts you into position of

[1:26:18] superiority towards others or and

[1:26:22] inferiority towards others because then

[1:26:24] if you have some defined identity you

[1:26:26] always look to then you give everybody

[1:26:29] else an identity too. That's a dreadful

[1:26:31] thing. It's not only you create the

[1:26:34] present for yourself.

[1:26:36] Everybody else once you look at the

[1:26:39] world through your defined identity,

[1:26:42] then you give everybody else a form

[1:26:45] identity. First you do it to yourself.

[1:26:48] Once you've done it to yourself, you do

[1:26:51] it to others

[1:26:53] and then you reduce every other being to

[1:26:57] a form. And then usually because all

[1:27:00] this is part of ego usually then you

[1:27:04] will try to locate where this other

[1:27:06] being is in this form as either superior

[1:27:10] or inferior to you. See it's an

[1:27:12] unconscious process. Where does this

[1:27:14] person fit in?

[1:27:17] The ego is always looking to where it

[1:27:20] inferior or sup am I inferior and if the

[1:27:23] ego feels inferior it's uneasy and then

[1:27:25] tries to get something to reduce the

[1:27:28] other so that you can feel if only make

[1:27:32] negative comments or whatever or say or

[1:27:35] if somebody on a very simple level the

[1:27:38] other woman wears a very nice dress and

[1:27:40] you feel diminished by her beautiful and

[1:27:42] expensive dress.

[1:27:45] uh you say, "Oh, that that dress uh

[1:27:50] would look good on your sister." Or

[1:27:52] something.

[1:27:57] The ego loves to do these unconscious

[1:27:59] things because it by by diminishing

[1:28:01] somebody, it it believes that it has

[1:28:03] grown a little bigger itself.

[1:28:06] Amazing delusions. It's a whole

[1:28:08] delusional system operating.

[1:28:13] gossip by by talking negatively about

[1:28:16] others. Every time you say something

[1:28:17] negative for others who are not there,

[1:28:20] this is quite a common thing. You feel a

[1:28:22] little bit superior because you have

[1:28:24] judged the other as not good enough.

[1:28:28] Certainly you have put yourself in a

[1:28:30] position of judging the other which

[1:28:33] implies that you are superior morally or

[1:28:36] whatever. You know what she did? She did

[1:28:38] that and then she said and then how dare

[1:28:40] she and then she's always wrong. of

[1:28:43] course. Uh

[1:28:48] amazing

[1:28:50] uh

[1:28:52] silliness, but for many people it's

[1:28:56] their life. That's how they live.

[1:28:59] So be nobody so to speak. Be a presence.

[1:29:04] uh don't define yourself except when

[1:29:08] absolutely necessary when you have some

[1:29:10] interaction with somebody who who says

[1:29:12] what's your name and so on. of course

[1:29:15] name and you nothing wrong with your

[1:29:18] name as long as you don't believe that

[1:29:20] that's who you are and so on your

[1:29:24] but the practice is

[1:29:30] to gradually shed the the belief that

[1:29:33] you are here as a person and just let

[1:29:37] the person become transparent

[1:29:40] to the light of consciousness and then

[1:29:43] you have that too That's the form

[1:29:46] and but essentially you are that which

[1:29:49] animates the form the underlying

[1:29:52] deeper consciousness and that by living

[1:29:57] in connected in conscious connection

[1:29:59] with that you live in conscious

[1:30:02] connection with an intelligence that is

[1:30:03] far greater than whatever your mind

[1:30:06] could manufacture. Although it may use

[1:30:08] your mind but it will then inspire your

[1:30:10] mind

[1:30:12] with creative insights, creative ideas

[1:30:15] and so on. It it it can use your mind or

[1:30:19] it may bypass your mind and will simply

[1:30:21] emanate throughout every cell of your

[1:30:23] body. You emanate a beautiful alive

[1:30:26] peaceful presence.

[1:30:29] If your mind is not highly developed, it

[1:30:31] may not say the universal consciousness

[1:30:34] may say well I this mind is not that

[1:30:37] great. I'm not going to use this mind,

[1:30:38] but I'm going to use the entire body to

[1:30:41] emanate peace and aliveness and presence

[1:30:44] and healing for the world.

[1:30:48] It uses whatever is is there. Or if

[1:30:51] you're an artist, then suddenly your

[1:30:53] artistic creations become inspired,

[1:30:57] empowered,

[1:30:59] beautiful. In my case, that doesn't

[1:31:01] happen because I can't draw and paint.

[1:31:03] It just doesn't happen. So this the

[1:31:05] consciousness is not going to flow into

[1:31:07] my arm and my hand and suddenly I'm

[1:31:08] going to produce a masterpiece. That's

[1:31:10] not going to happen. Nor am I going to

[1:31:13] produce the unified field theory that

[1:31:16] Einstein couldn't find

[1:31:19] because my mind doesn't work in that

[1:31:21] way. Physics and mathematics it just so

[1:31:24] the consciousness is not going to use my

[1:31:26] mind and bring up make me into another

[1:31:29] Einstein.

[1:31:31] The consciousness uses what is there and

[1:31:33] empowers that.

[1:31:35] And there's always everybody has

[1:31:38] something that consciousness will use

[1:31:41] and flow into.

[1:31:44] If only every cell of your body that's

[1:31:46] more than enough.

[1:31:58] And then there's nobody to claim credit

[1:32:01] when something has been produced,

[1:32:04] created.

[1:32:06] You just step back.

[1:32:10] It's not I did that or the way people

[1:32:14] go. Yeah.

[1:32:18] Yeah.

[1:32:24] [Music]

[1:32:27] No, you just

[1:32:29] because you know it's not

[1:32:32] not I didn't I did it. Yes, but not I.

[1:32:36] It's the one I

[1:32:52] All

[1:33:03] right.

[1:33:13] [Music]

Ego-based manifesting springs from a sense of lack and incompleteness; you act because you believe something is missing and you need to become someone better in the future. Presence-based manifesting flows from wholeness and awareness. You hold an intention and remain present, allowing the intelligence of consciousness to work through you rather than forcing outcomes from your limited mind.
Yes, but the quality of consciousness matters far more than the goals themselves. You can pursue anything while remaining present and unidentified with doing, or you can achieve great things while remaining trapped in ego-driven unconsciousness. The key is whether your action flows from lack or from wholeness, from ego-identification or from awareness.
Tolle observes that the universe expresses two fundamental movements: outward creation and inward return to stillness. Conflict and challenge are woven into creation because without them, life would be uninteresting and static. A movie with no conflict, no problems, no growth would have no story. The universe needs tension and struggle to manifest meaning and unfold.
Notice the difference between what you do (your roles, achievements, history) and who you are (the awareness observing all of it). Your form and story are not your true identity; they arise within consciousness. Practice returning attention to the present moment and the awareness that observes all experience, rather than to the ongoing narrative of self.
The consciousness you bring to your actions—the presence, spaciousness, and freedom from ego-identification—determines the true value and impact of what you do. Two people can do the same external task; one does it from unconscious identification with doing, the other from presence. The presence-based action, though identical externally, carries an entirely different quality and creates different effects.
No. The universe itself is constantly creating and manifesting. The problem is not with creating and wanting; it is with the unconscious identification with doing that drives endless, compulsive wanting from a sense of lack. When you act from presence and wholeness, creation flows naturally without the distortion of ego-need and dissatisfaction.
When you stop being identified with your limited ego-mind and its strategies, creative insights and ideas arise naturally from consciousness itself. You become responsive to what is actually needed in each moment rather than rigidly executing a preconceived plan. The intelligence flowing through you is infinitely more creative than your personal mind could be alone.
